Ballet

Ballet is a theatrical dance that features highly formalized steps and movements. It uses body movements, music, and stage scenery to speak emotions, a story, an atmosphere, or a theme.
The term ballet traces its name roots in the Italian word “balleto”, which is a variation of another Italian word, “balle”, which means “dance”.

Tap

Tap dance (or tap) is a form of dance that uses the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion; it is often accompanied by music. Tap dancing can also be a cappella, with no musical accompaniment; the sounds of the taps is its own music. It’s an African-American artform that evolved alongside the advent of jazz music.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a style of Concert Dance, or dance intended to be performed for an audience, that incorporates elements of Modern Dance, Ballet, Jazz, and Lyrical, as well as various other dance styles. The primary goal of Contemporary Dance is to communicate and express by manipulating the body, time, rhythm, space, gravity, breath, and energy.

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, spoken dialogue, acting and dance. In this class, students do not sing, but lip sync the words to songs, while acting and dancing.

Wiggles & Giggles

A ballet based class for our younger dancers where they are encouraged to explore movement using music. These classes are designed to encourage the development of physical skills, strength, and promote creativity.

Jazz

Jazz is a style rooted in African American culture, featuring syncopated rhythms, improvisation, and energetic movements. Featuring flashy choreography and stylized movements. Jazz dance is high energy where dancers need to demonstrate precision, athleticism, and charisma.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop Dance is a style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks, executed to Hip Hop music. It has deep historical and social roots in African American culture, having emerged in Black communities living in 1970s New York. While frequently referred to as a singular dance style, Hip Hop dance is part of a whole culture of Hip Hop, that includes Deejaying, Graffiti, Emceeing, and Breaking.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance embodies various aspects of ballet, jazz, and modern. The style combines ballet technique with the free and musicality of jazz or contemporary. The dance form is typically set to music and the words of the song. Lyrical dance clearly displays emotion and moods, while the movements are fluid, continuous, and graceful.

Acro

Acro dance is a style that combines the techniques of classical dance with acrobatic movements. This form of dance is very athletic and fast moving to music. Dancers will train to be flexible, strong, and control so they can perform tricks, balances and tumbling.
